Prolog - The Night of the WolvesWipes away her tears as she plases her newborn daughter down near the Wolf den and hears Tom tell her "It's for the best, Bethany." And she replies, "I know. . .I know." But as she looks into her daughters eyes, she breaks down to tears again "I don't want her to grow up with the wolves, but I don't want her to be killed." she says with a sniffle. Bethany watches as Howler pads out of his den and speak "Ah, you have come." Runs to the wolf and hugs him and hears him speak "Its okay Bethany. Star will be well cared for and looked after." As Bethany pulls her head away from the wolf she sobs "I know, it's just that I'll miss her." Hears Tom say "It's time to go. Markson will be waiting for us at the Townsquare with the ropes." Bethany nods and walks away with Tom, glancing the last image she would ever see of her daughter and thinks 'Oh, my little Star. How I wish that you could live a normal life. . ."
